Charlotte Reed, Author and Mental health advocate
As part of our interview series, we asked a few questions to Charlotte Reed, author & mental health advocate. Charlotte attended our last #MDpubquiz in March and kindly offered to share her story. The lucky winners won her book “May the thoughts be with you” as the first prize!

How did you find the pub quiz?
Great fun! There was a really lovely inviting atmosphere and everyone was really friendly. It was a great idea to host a pub quiz about mental health.
A highlight of the evening?
Definitely the bouncing back game in the garden. That was hilarious!!

“Making mental health a normal topic of conversation”
How do you think we can help to break stigma around mental health?
Definitely by hosting evenings like this. That way we can making mental health a normal topic of conversation. The more events like this the better as it gets people talking about mental health.
“Digital tools and apps can give patients the power back to take their healing into their own hands, rather than just wait and do nothing. It allows them to be proactive which is great.”
Do you think digital could help with that? If yes, how?
Just by spreading awareness through social media helps. The more online exposure it has the more it will send out the right message to people.
How do you think digital can help people with mental health issues?
Apparently, there’s a long waiting list to be seen by a specialist so digital tools and apps can give patients the power back to take their healing into their own hands, rather than just wait and do nothing. It allows them to be proactive which is great.
Thank you Charlotte!
