Who is this module designed for?

The module is designed for close ones of someone with autism, such as partners, siblings, friends and other relatives.

What is the content of the module?

The module explains more about autism to close ones: what is it? How does it develop? How does someone with autism experience it? In this way, relatives gain a better understanding of what goes on in the mind of the person with autism.

Close ones also get a chance to express grief over their close one being diagnosed with autism. In addition, they can reflect on what situations they find difficult with the person with autism and what symptoms of autism they notice the most.

Finally, close ones start thinking about how they can take care of themselves, what their good sides are and which things are already going well in their lives and in their contact with the person with autism.

Special features of the module

This module helps to address challenges close ones may face. It also focuses on taking care of yourself and expressing feelings like frustration and sadness.

Complicated concepts are explained in a simple way. This helps close ones to understand what the words mean without feeling overwhelmed.
