Who is it for?
This module is suitable for adults who experience mild/moderate Panic Disorder (with or without Agoraphobia) and want to overcome their fear surrounding panic attacks. The goal of the module is for the patient to acknowledge and challenge their fears and the catastrophic misinterpretations of their physical panic symptoms.
What is the module about?
The module consists of 8 sessions, including an unguided welcome session and an optional session on Agoraphobia. The module is step-2 IAPT compliant using low intensity CBT and following the NICE guidelines. The module is designed to help patients develop skills that focus on identifying and challenging the catastrophic misinterpretations of their physical symptoms.
The patient is gradually exposed to triggers that evoke fear and/or panic attacks. The patient is encouraged to experience more helpful thoughts and behaviour. In each session, the patient receives psycho-education, reads about the experiences of example patients and practises with one or more exercises. An optional session is available for those who suffer from Agoraphobia in addition to Panic Disorder. This psycho-educational session allows you to deliver a more personalised and seamless treatment programme to your client.
