What is the module 'Self-help: Live a healthier life' about?
A healthy body does not only prevent pain, discomfort and diseases, it is also great for your mind. This module begins with a focus on developing the motivation you need to change your lifestyle. This is done through exercises like the reality check, considering your higher goals and a pro-con analysis.
Once the motivational phase of the module has been completed, you can decide what you want to work on first: developing healthy eating habits or exercising more. In most cases, both submodules will be completed. These are the submodules:
Healthy eating habits
Are you ready to tackle your eating habits? In this module you will be given information and practical tips about healthy food and set goals that are important to you. Video clips of others working on their lifestyle, infographics and exercises will guide you through the first steps towards more healthy eating habits.
Would you like to live a healthier life? In this module you will be given information and practical tips about exercising and set goals that are important to you. Video clips of others working on their lifestyle, infographics and exercises will guide you through the first steps towards exercising more.
The module contains many infographics in which information is clarified. Finally, this module truly is a personal route module: most of the exercises are preceded by a choice. That way, the end user only completes exercises that fit their situation, making it more personal and motivating!

How can you use this module?
Self-help: Live a healthier life can be used for all who wish to start working towards a more healthy lifestyle. People with access to the Minddistrict app or webplatform can select it from the self-help catalogue and start working on it immediately. The module can also be activated by a care provider.
Which diaries are part of the module 'Self-help: Live a healthier life'?
Three diaries are automatically activated during the self-help module:
- Making a small change diary, in which one can keep track of whether they are able to make one small change a day.
- Exercise more diary, in which one keeps track of whether they were able to exercise that day.
- Healthy eating diary, in which one keeps track of whether they were able to change their eating pattern that day.
What is the module based on?
The content of the module has been put together during an extensive development process and is based on relevant literature as well as the knowledge and experience of practitioners and patients.
This self-help module is developed as a personal route, and therefore perfect to use in the Minddistrict mobile app. This means that people have self-help in their back pocket, they can continue with the module where they left of and can select their favourite elements. The module however also be used on other devices and on the web platform.
